Someone recently asked me about the name translations I’ve come across in Scripture. I’ve written blog posts about them, or shared them on Facebook, but have never gathered them all in one place. Here they are, in order of discovery:
GENEALOGY OF JESUS CHRIST
In the Fall of 2017, I had written the genealogy of Jesus, as listed in the book of Matthew, on a couple of pages intending to research each person and jot notes about significant events in their lives. I got busy with kid stuff, and set it aside for a couple of months.
Just after Christmas, the list popped back into my mind, and I thought I might spend the day doing the research. Later that very morning, a family member, with whom I don’t typically exchange instant messages, sent me a video of a Chuck Missler translation of the first 10 names of Jesus’ lineage, starting from Adam. I watched it, stunned at the timing of her message, and hidden meaning in the names.
Here’s a video that has the same translation, though it’s not the same one Janet sent me:
And that got me thinking about the rest of the names, all the way to Joseph. The idea of translating them all was daunting, but my friend Bryan found a website that translates each of the names:
http://www.bible-codes.org/Names-bible-code-printable.htm
It’s really spectacular. Who, but God, could use people with names that translate to the story of Jesus Christ, in perfect order, through all the pages of the Bible? To me, this is one of the biggest proofs for the validity of Scripture, and verification that Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be. Especially when one considers that the stories with these names were written and safeguarded over thousands of years by the very people who called for the crucifixion of their Messiah.
THE PROPHETS and MOADIM
A few days after this discovery, I felt led to study the Feasts, or Moadim of God. I had an early January evening creating a matrix of the Moadim, and was looking for a particular passage in one of the minor prophet books that was on the fringes of my memory, to add some supporting detail. After several hours of work, followed by several more minutes of fruitless searching, I gave up. Rather petulantly, I complained to the Holy Spirit about my grainy eyes and pounding headache; if he wanted me to find that passage, he was going to have to lend a hand. Turning the Bible on its side, I looked at the tabs for the books, hoping that something amazing would happen to show me which book I should open.
Nothing. Zip. Nada.
I opened to one of the books, and noticed that some, not all, of the introductory paragraphs for the books had translations of the Hebrew names into English. Reading two in a row sounded like part of a phrase, and in my excitement, my headache was forgotten. Looking up each name online (I like the translations at Abarim Productions) I wrote in the missing translations, and flipped through them in order. Here’s what they looked like (prepositions, articles, conjunctions added in parenthesis):
Read all the words in the column on the right. Who fits the description of God’s messenger, Lord, Burden Bearer, Servant, and Dove? Jesus does. And pay attention to the Hidden of the Feasts. That should tell us that the appointed times, or Moadim, of God are very, very important to Him.
OFFICERS OF GOD and HIS SANCTUARY
Fast forward to September, 2018. I’m really trying to make sure that as I study, the Holy Spirit is with me. As usual, I got distracted by a thought about something unimportant while I was studying the use of the number 17 in scripture. In this case the intrusive thought was about curtain lining fabric, for which I began a search on eBay. Holy Spirit shut down my internet connection- both cellular data and internet. I mean, I’m assuming it was him. How else could both go down at exactly the same time?
Point taken.
I got back to work and stumbled across a list of names in 1 Chronicles 24 (the officers of the sanctuary of God, and the officers of God, appointed by a random drawing of lots) it translates to the following:
Jesus is described as seated at the right hand of God. He was also raised and restored. The church is promised to become the bride of Christ, and the chuppa is the covering that is used during a Jewish wedding ceremony. God’s desire is to once again dwell in joy with his creation, and gave us the very covenant that will release us from sin. We’re freed by God.
The list was recorded in the presence of the King, the princes, Zadok (righteousness) and Ahimelech, the son of Abiathar. It’s another beautiful hidden gem in Scripture. Keep in mind that the names were drawn by lot, meaning the order in which they were chosen was completely random, as far as the author knew.
WORSHIPPERS IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD
This one was in the very next chapter (1 Chron 25), so I wrote the names down the same day as the list above. I started translating the names, but didn’t finish the project until the next day.
It’s another beautiful description of Jesus. God gave his Son, for salvation, conceived by God. He was emptied, or poured out, what was upright toward God, and then restored him. Jesus has been magnified, and is seated firmly on the throne. Scripture, and Jesus’ words, have spoken God’s plan to us in abundance – if we would only listen.
SANCTIFICATION OF THE TEMPLE
On September 20th, 2018, I was again reading something related to the number 17.
The cleansing of the temple as described in 2nd Chronicles 29, takes place at the time of the Feast of Tabernacles during the reign of King Hezekiah. At the time, Judah was in such a terrible state, that it took a full sixteen days for the priests to sanctify everything and everyone.
Therefore, on the 17th Day (I have a LOT to say about the number 17, if you’re interested), King Hezekiah brought everyone together to sacrifice in the temple. The priests were only going to sacrifice for Judah, but the good king insisted that the sacrifice should be made for both Judah and Israel.
The sacrifices were so numerous that there weren't enough priest to go around, so other Levites helped them out as they were "more upright in their hearts than the priests in sanctifying themselves." Remember that the Levites were chosen by God to be His priests right after the Exodus.
So, that year, the Feast of Tabernacles took place on the 17th of the month rather than starting on the normal 15th. What’s especially interesting is that verse 36 reads "And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people; for the thing came about suddenly." Suddenly means "in a moment." Considering the context of numerous sacrifices and extra time needed for sanctification, the word “suddenly” seems out of place. Also, the word "did" in this passage means "established." Something was “established in a moment.” (Hint: as in a twinkling of an eye).
In a post I wrote about Solomon’s temple, there was a "spirit departed" clue shortly after the dedication of Solomon's temple – also at the Feast of Tabernacles.
Curious, I translated the names of the priests present at the temple sanctification. Here’s how it went:
This one is really interesting, given there are some rapture references in the text, and the name translations also point to a snatching away. And, we often are referred to as brothers and sisters of the Lord. And not only are we wards of his, but also he repeatedly told us in scripture to remain vigilant for his return.
Well, that’s all I have for now. If I find any more, I’ll be sure to share them with you, my readers. I hope this inspires you to search out these translations, yourselves. It never ceases to amaze me what is hidden in scripture. Those lists of names aren’t boring roll-calls; they’re a lot more than I ever thought they’d be.
Thank you so much for the over 10,000 hits on my blog. Eyes up!

These people were chosen to be inside the temple, offering worship by music. This translation is in the order drawn, and the groupings are separated by spaces:
